How to Contact Your Republican Legislator

If you’re thinking about writing to your Republican legislators about the current crisis, let me save you some time: Don’t bother with arguments about DEI, government waste, or partisan politics. They’ve heard it all before, and those arguments won’t move them. What they urgently need to understand – and what might actually get their attention – is that their own congressional power is being systematically stripped away and handed to unelected tech-bros.

Look at what’s happened in just a few weeks. Entire federal agencies have been effectively shuttered, their employees locked out, their systems compromised. Career officials who questioned this authority have been forced out. And all of this is happening without congressional oversight or approval. Your Republican legislators are viewing this as a win – finally, someone is “draining the swamp.” But they’re missing the crucial point: when unelected individuals can lock federal employees out of buildings, shut down agency websites, and take control of trillion-dollar payment systems without oversight, what makes Congress think they’re immune?

Today, they’re cheering as USAID employees are locked out of their offices. But tomorrow, it could be congressional staff finding their systems “streamlined” out of existence, their email deemed “inefficient,” their constituent communication channels suddenly offline. This isn’t about politics anymore – it’s about power. And while your legislators are focused on celebrating supposed victories against bureaucracy, they’re missing the fact that their own constitutional authority is being handed away to unelected tech executives who answer to no one.

We need to make them understand this threat while we still can. Because tomorrow, the very channels we use to reach them might be deemed “inefficient” too.

It doesn’t matter if you’re Republican or Democrat. What matters is that you’re a constituent. Write your legislators. Let them know what’s on your mind. Be courteous but firm. Make them work for you, not the tech-bros.

Contact your senators (both of them) here.

Contact your representative (just one) here.

Dear [Representative/Senator] [Name],

I am writing as your constituent about an unprecedented crisis that demands IMMEDIATE emergency action. Whether through your explicit support or your marked silence, you appear to fundamentally misunderstand the grave threat to your own congressional authority. The President has transferred Congress’s constitutional powers – your powers – to an unelected private citizen who has already compromised or shut down at least eight major federal agencies in just a few weeks.

Every hour that passes makes this crisis worse:

  • Musk has seized control of Treasury payment systems that manage trillions in federal disbursements
  • His DOGE operatives have taken over the Office of Personnel Management’s systems
  • They’ve effectively shut down USAID, furloughing thousands and halting vital programs
  • They’ve infiltrated the General Services Administration, dismantling crucial tech infrastructure
  • They’re appearing in FEMA, NOAA, Veterans Affairs, and Education Department facilities
  • They’re accessing classified information without security clearance
  • They’re preventing government workers from entering their workplaces
  • All of this is happening behind closed doors with no oversight

Consider carefully: When unelected individuals can lock government employees out of their offices and shut down agencies at will, what makes you think Congress is immune? The distracting narrative about DEI and government waste obscures a more sinister reality – the methodical destruction of governmental infrastructure that includes your own constitutional authority.

What will you do when:

  • Your office’s email systems are suddenly deemed “inefficient”
  • Your franking privileges are revoked for “cost-saving”
  • Your staff finds the doors to your office locked
  • Your constituent communication systems are “streamlined” out of existence

By then, it will be too late to reclaim your authority. The endorsement of DOGE’s actions – including their employment of self-proclaimed Nazi sympathizers and Musk’s public Nazi salutes – raises serious questions. Do you truly endorse these racist principles? Are you willing to sacrifice your own constitutional authority to individuals who openly display the ideologies we fought a world war to defeat?

This requires IMMEDIATE action by Congress:

  1. Begin emergency impeachment proceedings against the President for this unconstitutional transfer of power
  2. Pursue immediate criminal charges against Musk and associates for unauthorized access to classified information
  3. Freeze and nationalize Musk’s U.S. assets to prevent further damage to government institutions
  4. Restore proper authority to all federal agencies and systems
  5. Reinstate illegally terminated federal employees

This isn’t about fiscal responsibility – it’s about the survival of our constitutional system of government, including your own role within it. Your willingness to brush aside these grave concerns about extremist takeover of government functions in favor of corporate-friendly “efficiency” narratives is deeply troubling. I urge you to consider whose interests you’re really serving by enabling this takeover. Otherwise, I am forced to conclude that you desire the entire collapse not only of our Constitution, which you swore an oath to protect, but also our nation and its allies.

I can write to you today, but for how much longer? Government websites and systems are being dismantled daily. Will congressional communication systems be next? How many more institutions will fall before Congress acts?

Please wake up. Your constituents need you right now. Before your power is ostracized.

I await your response addressing these specific concerns about your own vulnerability to this systemic dismantling of government authority, though I fear you’ll continue to represent big business and possibly racist interests rather than your actual constituents.

Sincerely, [Your name] [Your address/contact information]

P.S. Incidentally, President Trump won the popular vote by less than a 1% margin in 2024 — less than the margin between Trump and Hillary Clinton. (She won the popular vote 2016 – Not Trump). And he only won in 2016 because of the electoral college, an outdated system created to persuade slave-holding states to join a fragile new nation and for no other reason. To call his win this time “overwhelming” is tragic and laughable. If you didn’t understand that before, please understand it now.
